Together, talented researchers and clinicians from the UC Irvine Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences convene at UC Irvine Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic to tackle complicated medical challenges using cutting-edge, non-invasive or minimally invasive diagnostics and therapies to improve human health.

The Institute was intentionally designed as an interdisciplinary center with basic science and technology development combined with a laser medical clinic under one roof. This model accelerates the movement of ideas and technologies, while fostering an environment for enhanced communication and collaboration between researchers and clinicians.

The Institute draws researchers who create new concepts, ideas and models at the classroom blackboard; innovators who develop cutting-edge optics and photonics technologies at the laboratory benchtop; clinicians who test life-changing diagnostic and therapeutic devices for the medical clinic bedside and experts through our partnership with UC Irvine Beall Applied Innovation to commercialize new devices to help those in our community and beyond.
