UC Irvine Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic’s LAser Microbeam Program (LAMP), established by Institute Founding Director Dr. Michael Berns, is a research center previously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Located in the Michael and Roberta Berns LAser Microbeam Program (LAMP) laboratory, LAMP focuses on the use of lasers and optics in biology and medicine. LAMP’s research and technology development are grounded in fundamental light-tissue interaction mechanisms.
