UC Irvine Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic faculty teach courses in various departments, including Surgery, Dermatology, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Neurological Surgery, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical and Material Science, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, and Developmental and Cell Biology. Faculty leaders provide meaningful research opportunities to undergraduates and have developed innovative education and training programs.
Over the last decade, Institute faculty have received support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and University of California (UC) to offer undergraduate research opportunities, including students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Institute faculty have designed and lead pioneering programs for Graduate Research and Training in Biophotonics (National Science Foundation Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship) and short courses in Computational Biophotonics (NIH/National Institute of General Medical Sciences).
