SPECIALIST POSITION
Dr. Petra Wilder-Smith anticipates openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists in her group, which focuses on the use of light and lasers for detecting and treating oral pathologies such as dental, periodontal disease, and cancer. Responsibilities include assisting with laboratory, animal and clinical research, regulatory and administrative activities as well as working with our student researchers.
All appointments are for one year with the potential for extension dependent upon performance and funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Junior Specialists – Should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree preferably in Biology, Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, or Optical Engineering) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialists – Should possess expertise consistent with four to six years of training and/or experience in the relevant specialization. Appropriate qualifications for appointees at this rank would include possession of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or possession of a relevant baccalaureate degree plus three or more years of research experience.
Associate Specialist – should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or impress research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
Specialist – should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Specialists at full rank are normally expected to have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field, professional recognition in the field, and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.

The Beckman Laser Institute at the University of California, Irvine seeks applicants with an interest in translational optical imaging. Responsibilities include image collection analysis and computer-based instrumentation. Experience in biophotonics and LabView and MATLAB programming desirable.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Physics, Chemistry, or Optical Engineering. Candidates must have the ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting. All appointments are for one year with the potential for extension dependent upon performance and funding.

Prof. Anthony J. Durkin/The Durkin lab anticipates openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists in his group. Preference will be given to applicants with an interest in translational optical imaging and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary setting. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience assembling instrumentation. Professional communication skills, both written and oral, are very much preferred, as is a willingness to help manage projects. Experience in biophotonics and tissue optics. Experience with MATLAB programming is desirable. Responsibilities include collection and analysis of Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging data from in both preclinical and clinical settings as well as instrument design, fabrication, validation and application.
